Youth baseball clinic

The Department of Parks and Recreation and Chevrolet Youth Baseball will hold a free baseball clinic for youths ages 6-14 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at Kawanakoa Field in Hilo.

Participants need to bring their own baseball gear and must RSVP and bring a signed clinic waiver form to the registration table. Sign-ups are from 3:30-4:15 p.m. Friday. Forms are available at www.ChevyYouthSports.com/rsvp.

Agena hoops clinic

slated for Honokaa

Coach Dennis Agena of Kalakaua Basketball and his staff will conduct a three-day youth basketball clinic Oct. 12-14 at the Honokaa County Gym.

Children ages 6-18 may participate. Sponsored by the Hamakua Athletic Association, the clinic will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Players need to bring a basketball, basketball shoes, water and proper playing attire. The registration fee is $60 and waiver forms are available at Parks and Recreation offices, Ted’s Garage in Honokaa, and Sports Line in Hilo.

Special Olympic golf

event set for Aug. 26

Special Olympics East Hawaii will hold its 5th golf annual golf tournament at 10 a.m. Aug. 26th at Volcano Country Club.

In this four-person scramble event, each group will include a Special Olympics athlete.

The entry fee for the fundraiser is $150 per player (Special Olympians are exempt), which includes a cart, lunch and 19th-hole awards and prizes.
